It’s time for another round of what mystery fans should have on their radar! This roundup is exploding with books to read, thanks to two major awards announcing this year’s finalists. A favorite true crime author of mine has a lot to say about a new true crime podcast, there’s, of course, adaptation news, we have a roundup for Agatha Christie fans, and an attorney at the Innocence Project talks about her job inspiring her new mystery novel.

With 27 categories, you are certain to find your next favorite audiobook on the list of finalists for this year’s Audie Awards. Focusing on crime novels for this here newsletter, I’ll note (narrators in parentheses!) that S. A. Cosby’s King of Ashes (Adam Lazarre-White) is up for Audiobook of the Year, Virginia Roberts Giuffre’s true crime memoir Nobody’s Girl (Thérèse Plummer and Gabra Zackman) is up for Autobiography/Memoir Award, Kristen L. Berry’s We Don’t Talk About Carol (Nicole Cash) is up for New Voice Award, Tiffany D. Jackson’s The Scammer (January LaVoy) is up for Young Adult, and Wesley King’s Benny on the Case (P.J. Ochlan) is up for a Young Listeners Award. And that’s all before you get to the actual Thriller/Suspense Finalists and Mystery Finalists categories! All the winners will be announced on March 2, 2026 at the 2026 Audies Gala, which will be at Pier 60 in New York City.

"Toward the end of our call, Connelly suggested that Killer in the Code could have consequences. ’I’m putting my reputation on the line,’ he said. ’Some very vaunted homicide detectives are putting their reputations on the line. So we have a lot at stake.’”

And the nominees for the 2026 Edgar Allan Poe Awards are...
